19 of the Russian's twenty-one victories have been achieved on hard surfaces

A resurgent Medvedev won his initial title for 882 days with victory over Frenchman Moutet in the tournament championship match.

Medvedev, a former number one, has experienced a torrid season, managing just one match at the major tournaments and suffering a setback at the American major.

The player's inconsistency on the tennis tour - and difficulties with his serving in especial - caused him exiting of the top ten and ultimately separating with long-time trainer Gilles Cervara.

Presently training with Johansson and Goetzke, Medvedev has consistently improved in the recent weeks - culminating in a tightly fought three-set win over Frenchman Moutet.

This marks Medvedev's maiden title since the Rome competition and maiden on a hard court after March of the previous year.

Success also indicates the Russian has achieved 21 victories at 21 different tournaments.

"It's the first time I am participating in a competition with my both daughters at once, so to get a championship is particularly special," commented world number 14 Medvedev.

"This title is in honour of my second daughter my daughter, because the first title I got when my child Alisa was born was for her."

The athlete, the past champion, had lost his past six title deciders, including in that event previously this season.

His retrieving play style and recurring reactions on the playing surface had caused observers to question if his capacity to perform at the highest level was concluded.

However the player has altered his approach in the last few weeks, striving to approach the net and compete positively, reinforced by an enhanced serving game.

Medvedev recovered from a break down in the opening set against the challenging Frenchman, taking 4 of the last five points to take the lead.

Both players exchanged service breaks in the middle set before the Frenchman, striving for his first professional championship, gained dominance to create a decider.

The opponent defended 4 early-game opportunities in a competitive final set before Medvedev secured a break to that score to secure the win.

Suitably, Medvedev secured victory with a shot at the front of the court, with Moutet unable to handle a volley after over two and a half hours.
